Sun Announces Faster and More Powerful SPARC M3000

Earlier today Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu rolled out a newly enhanced and very powerful entry-level M3000 server that will not only allow customers to consolidate multiple low-end systems, but also save tons of money and space.

The upgraded M3000 is a single-socket system now powered by the new quad-core 2.7GHz SPARC64 VII processor. The new chip not only has a higher frequency than its predecessor, but combined with its faster system memory, offers up to 23 percent better performance.

An M3000 server running the industry-leading Solaris Operating System is an affordable, single-processor server that inherits the mission-critical features of the M-Series Enterprise family--delivering extreme reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) and performance at an entry-level price in a 2RU footprint.

With the ability to scale from one to 64 processors on the same SPARC architecture while running the same Solaris Operating System, customers can start small and grow big!
